Alternative Process - Photogram
For this project I wanted to use values to show what may be going on in someones head. To start, I cut out a drawing of a head and some dancers. I wanted to lay them out in a way that made it look like the person was thinking about something, and it was cluttering their brain. To add to that affect, I made sure the paper I used for the head was a little textured, for a fuzzier look. Then, I drew and cut out some dancers, and laid them over the head. I wanted the photogram to look a little like an x-ray. My goal was to make it look like someone is a lot more creative and active inside there head than outside, even to the point of seeming cluttered and unclear. I left pencil marks around the outside of the head in hopes that light wouldn't shine through it as much, so that there was a very clear outline of the person, and to give the feeling that she is more plain from an outsiders perspective. I let the dancer's silhouettes roll a little, and put them off the paper at some points to keep the theme of a fuzzy, cluttered mind. I also let the figures overlap, and some of the figures broke the outline of the head, to get across the idea that the dancers are trying to break free from the persons mind. My goal was to show a person who is much brighter and more lively on the inside than the outside. I think we often make assumptions based on a persons appearance, when the person is totally different in their own mind.
