Painting with Light

In this photo, I wanted to display how I feel while listening to music. While time and time again I have been told that listening to music is distracting, that wearing earbuds while out walking is dangerous or rude, I still can't help but tune out to some good music. I think there's something about it that changes the way I feel, or that calms me, or gives me something to focus on. That's why I wanted to make the headphones on the subject drawn with light. I wanted it to be separate from the subject, but still illuminating her, showing how it affects her, and even makes her brighter. I wanted the photo to look like the headphones come over her head like its shielding her from something, or like there's a lot going on in her head that we can't see. I considered using actual headphones as a guide while painting the outline, but I like it better like this. I think It looks more like an absent-minded doodle this way, which adds a creative feeling to the photo.I really like this photo -- all I had to do to it in photoshop was make her hair look less green. I think I successfully achieved the goal I had in mind for this photo.
